Intellectual Property (Patent Prosecution) Paralegal Position Summary
A leading law firm is seeking a highly skilled Patent Prosecution Paralegal to join its Intellectual Property team in Greensboro, NC
. This onsite role involves conducting legal research, investigating facts, and preparing complex filings to support attorneys in various stages of domestic and international patent life cycles.
- Domestic Filings: Execute U.S. patent filings via EFS-Web/Patent Center and manage all facets of patent prosecution (U.S., PCT, non-PCT convention, Design, Hague, and national stage).
- International Management: Coordinate foreign patent prosecution with international agents and process foreign associate invoices.
- Document Preparation: Prepare office action response shells and formal documents (assignments, declarations, etc.) for client signature and filing.
- Docketing & Deadlines: Monitor daily dockets, work with docketing staff to ensure date accuracy, and take appropriate steps to clear critical deadlines.
- Communication: Review and report patent office communications to clients and interact with USPTO personnel as needed.
- Process Improvement: Develop and document internal processes and procedures for the IP group.
- Pay Range: $75,000 – $95,000 per year (Estimated based on 5+ years of IP experience).
- Employment Type: Full-Time.
- Schedule: Standard business hours (e.g., 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM).
- Location:
Strictly Onsite – Greensboro, NC. - Overtime: Periodic overtime may be required to meet USPTO or foreign filing deadlines.

- Experience: 5+ years of specialized experience in patent prosecution and docketing within a law firm environment.
- Technical
Skills:
Mastery of EFS-Web, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and professional docketing software. - Core Competencies:
- Deep knowledge of U.S. and foreign patent filing procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of firm personnel.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
