Schedule Details/Additional Information:

  • 2 12 hour shifts weekly
  • 7am-7pm

Pay Range

$19.45 - $29.20

Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant I performs designated basic patient care and related nursing tasks to provide optimal/quality care consistent with Hospital mission and Nursing philosophy, goals, standards, and bylaws. Assists the Licensed Nurse in the implementation of nursing care in predictable, uncomplicated, and stable patient situations as directed.

Neuro-Telemetry (6 South) is a 36 bed progressive care and designated stroke unit that has a patient population with a variation of medical needs and diagnoses.

Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED General Studies
  • Successful completion of an applicable state Board of Nursing Aide I approved training program/competency evaluation
  • Nurse Aide I Registration Division of Facility Services Nurse Aide I Registry
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Job

Specific Duties :
  • Patient Observation: Observes and reports patient appearance/behavior/response to basic care, procedures, and treatments; notes abnormalities in urine, stool, drainage, skin; observes intravenous therapy and reports issues to the nurse; monitors patient care equipment; reports abnormal vital signs or changes in patient behavior to the licensed nurse.
  • Patient Information & Documentation: Obtains and documents temperature, pulse, respirations, heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry; records height/weight; tracks fluid intake/output; records diet/activity/treatment observations; gathers needed equipment; collects urine/stool/sputum specimens as directed.
  • Patient Care: Maintains safe, organized patient care environment; sets priorities; assists with elimination activities; provides hygiene; performs hygienic/comfort measures; assists with therapies and monitoring; repositions bedfast/incontinent patients every two hours; provides 1:1 monitoring as directed.
  • Patient Dietary Assistance: Assists with meals and documents intake; maintains water and dietary supplies; follows orders regarding fluid management.
  • Patient Transfer/Discharge: Assists in admission/transfer/discharge; supports ambulation and transfers with lifts as needed.
  • Patient Environment: Keeps unit clean and stocked; manages linen and supplies as directed.
  • Call Lights: Answers call lights.
  • Teamwork & Support: Supports pre/post-operative care as directed; participates in unit tasks; reports progress and needs to the charging nurse.
  • Customer Focus: Delivers excellent patient service and professional care; communicates effectively and positively promotes the department.
  • Meetings & Updates: Attends required staff meetings and continuing education as specified.
  • Professionalism: Maintains professional relationships and adheres to department rules.
  • Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned by management.
