Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

+ Design and develop structures, subassemblies, and mechanical components of truck and trailer bodies or ambulances using CAD software such as Solid Edge, Solid Works, or AutoCAD Inventor.

+ Create detailed 3D models of sheet metal parts, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings with appropriate tolerances and material specifications.

+ Perform engineering calculations and analyses (structural, load, and performance) to validate designs.

+ Support production through technical drawings, BOMs, process documentation, and engineering change management.

+ Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality departments to ensure design intent is maintained through production.

+ Review and improve existing designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and durability.

+ Research materials, components, and manufacturing methods for potential implementation in future designs.

+ Participate in prototype builds and testing to evaluate design performance and validate design changes.

+ Ensure compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and customer standards.

+ Provide technical support for field issues and product improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.

+ 3-5 years of prior work experience within a manufacturing setting outside of college or internships.

+ Proficiency in Solid Edge and Solid Works.

+ Knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

+

Experience with Epicor ERP.

+ Ability to responsibly handle confidential information.

Skills & Qualifications

+ Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, fabrication methods, and structural analysis.

+ Knowledge of materials (steel, aluminum, composites) and their applications in vehicle manufacturing.

+ Understanding of structural adhesives and their uses.

+ Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.

+ Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

+ Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

+ Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as welding, forming, and assembly.

+

Experience with Epicor ERP systems is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment involves a manufacturing setting with exposure to weather, noise, and moving mechanical parts. The role requires a mix of desk work using CAD software and physical presence on the manufacturing floor. Physical demands include occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs and specific vision abilities. The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
