About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled Shift Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our production facilities across two sites. Working on a rotating shift pattern and providing weekend cover on a call-out rota, you will support the Operations team by minimising downtime, improving asset performance, and ensuring compliance with planned maintenance schedules.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive engineer with strong troubleshooting skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

Respond promptly to plant breakdowns and complete corrective actions, recording all work on the CMMS (Shire). Deliver planned preventative maintenance on time and in full. Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment, always adhering to health & safety and GMP standards. Provide first-line maintenance support to manufacturing teams and communicate effectively with Team Leaders and Managers. Participate in machine installation, decommissioning, panel building, and engineering project work.

Monitor line performance and contribute to efficiency improvements. Order spare parts and work closely with Engineering Stores. Liaise with contractors and issue permits (if trained). Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to CI teams. Train and coach colleagues as required and provide cover for the Engineering Team Leader when needed. Participate in both electrical and mechanical maintenance activities to the best of your capability.

Experience:

Essential:
Time-served engineering apprenticeship NVQ Level 3 / ONC / BTEC Level 3 in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronic Engineering 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently or in a team Good command of written and spoken English Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings Analytical and problem-solving skills Health & Safety mindset Desirable:
Experience in an FMCG or highly regulated environment HNC qualification Working Hours & Pay:
Rotating shifts:
Monday Thursday: 06:0014:00 and 14:0022:00 Friday: 06:0012:00 and 12:0018:00 Average 38 hours per week , plus weekend call-out rota (approx. once every 4 weeks after probation) Weekend cover paid at 12 hours per day (Saturday & Sunday 24 hours total) Shift pay incorporated into hourly rate Additional pay for weekend callouts Full company benefits package, including pension, holiday entitlement, and sick pay (as per employee handbook)
