Overview
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an Engineer for our HVAC/Plumbing/Fire Protection (H-P-F) group in New York City, White Plains, or Hicksville offices. As part of our HVAC/Plumbing/Fire Protection (H-P-F) teams the ideal candidate will work within Hazen and Sawyer’s H-P-F Discipline Group and can expect to work closely with experienced Engineers to perform system designs.

Workload will focus on municipal water and wastewater projects including planning, preliminary and final designs, and providing engineering services for projects in construction. It is preferable to have experience in the H-P-F systems related to water and wastewater facilities, although relevant experience in municipal, industrial or commercial buildings and facilities is acceptable. The candidate should enjoy learning and working within a team environment.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
- Two (2) – twenty five (25) years of experience in designing heating, ventilating, cooling, plumbing, and/or fire protection systems (design for municipal, commercial, or industrial facilities is preferred).
- A PE license, or plans of obtaining their PE license, is preferred.
- Experience with Revit is preferred.
- Relevant areas of experience include:
- Application of various types of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and hydronic piping systems
- Ductwork sizing and design
- Heating and cooling load calculations
- Hot water boiler and chilled water system design
- HVAC controls systems and building/facility management systems
- ASME B31.1 Power Piping or ASME B3.9 Building Services Piping designs
- International Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code and Fire Code
- Performance of detailed HVAC and hydraulic pressure drop calculations
- Performance of Plumbing pipe sizing and fixture count analysis
- SMANCA Duct Construction Standards
- NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems
- NFPA 820, Standard for Fire Protection in Waste Treatment and Collection Facilities
