The Department of Special Education is seeking a School Social Worker to provide services to students at Willet Avenue School in Hicksville, NY. Students benefiting from working with the School Social Worker may include those with social, emotional, behavioral and/or learning challenges.

• Participating in the Committee for Special Education (CSE) process for students.
• Developing and delivering parent and staff training on relevant topics.
• Providing Individualized Education Program mandated counseling.
• Assisting with the development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
• Participating in crisis intervention and training as needed.
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary group of staff to support student needs.
• Conducting parent and district outreach.
• Securing outside services for families such as assisting with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) application process.
• Completing social histories.
• Participating in screenings.
• Other duties assigned by the building administrators as needed.

• New York State Education Department Certification – School Social Worker
• Valid and current Licensed Master Social Worker (LMS) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Experience developing and implementing BIP's and FBA's is required.
• Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
