Join Lens Crafters as an Apprentice Optician. The role focuses on delivering the Lens Crafters Experience by providing exceptional customer service and applying optical knowledge in a part‑time setting.
General FunctionThe Apprentice Optician creates exceptional value in the lives of customers by delivering the Lens Crafters Experience and ensuring customers are delighted with the key steps of our selling model.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Conveys commitment to customer service by performing Sales and Service Process steps:
- Greeting the Customer
- Explaining the Process transparently
- Merchandise Selection
- Fitting – Accu Fit
- Solve visual problems or challenges for customers
- Tendering
- Dispensing
- Serves as a center of excellence for others with a focus on Right the First Time.
- Assists customers in selecting frames and lenses suitable for vision, lifestyle, and budget.
- Anticipates problems, explores causes, and develops long‑term solutions.
- Shows patience and courtesy; tracks down answers to unfamiliar questions or products.
- Educates customers on Lens Crafters guarantees and services.
- Handles measurements, adjustments, fittings, and ensures finished eyewear meets standards.
- Strives to achieve “Exceptional Results” on annual CEI/Functional Skills.
- Takes ownership to achieve personal and store results.
- Operates Point of Sale terminal accurately, collects payment, and follows security procedures.
- Explains “One Hour” processing and delivery times.
- Guides customers on pickup instructions.
- Maintains store appearance and visual displays per planograms.
- Maintains a safe working environment and reports safety opportunities.
- Demonstrates safe work practices, including PPE in the lab.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Part of a sanctioned Apprentice Program.
- Strong customer service skills: communicator, listener, team builder.
- Knowledge of optical theory and merchandise.
- Knowledge of current store merchandise.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Awareness of current fashion trends.
- Sales and service skills.
- Familiarity with POS, computers, and calculators.
- Embrace new technology and change.
- Actively studying for Lens Crafters Quality, Fitting and Adjusting Program.
- Optical dispensing experience.
- Previous customer service and retail experience.
Employee pay is determined by location, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. Bonuses/commission plans may be offered. Benefits may include health care, retirement savings, paid time off/vacation, and employee discounts.
