Registered Nurse – Critical Care Unit (Full Time – Days) –

Duke Heart Network Partner
. The Frye Heart Center is partnered with the Duke Heart Network and is the only Duke Heart affiliate in Western North Carolina. Frye has 24 intensive care beds across three ICUs, serving critically ill patients with a holistic, integrated team approach. Cardiovascular-trained nurses in the CVICU care for postoperative patients such as coronary artery bypass grafts and valve replacements.

• Assess patients’ physical and mental health, including reaction to illnesses and treatment regimens.
• Record and report the results of nursing assessments.
• Plan, initiate, deliver, and evaluate appropriate nursing acts.
• Teach, assign, delegate to or supervise other personnel in implementing treatment regimens.
• Collaborate with health care providers to determine appropriate care; do not prescribe medical treatment unless under physician supervision.
• Implement the treatment and pharmaceutical regimen prescribed by authorized state law practitioners.
• Provide teaching and counseling about the patient’s health.
• Report and record the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient’s response.
• Supervise, teach, and evaluate staff performing or preparing to perform nursing functions and administer nursing programs and services.

Nursing assistants, Unit secretary, Licensed Practical Nurse

• Current North Carolina License
• BLS, ACLS required or within one year of employment

• ICU – Previous Critical Care experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient RN experience required.
