About The Emergency Department Registered Nurse Position

We have an opening for an EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT REGISTERED NURSE (RN). The RN possesses knowledge and skills for caring for patients across the lifespan who are experiencing life-threatening conditions requiring complex clinical assessment, technologically intense therapies, and interventions. The RN applies specialized nursing knowledge in assessing, implementing, and evaluating patient response to complex conditions, therapies, and interventions. The RN initiates nursing care, health teaching, and health counseling that supports life and restores well-being.

Nursing care is performed in accordance with the nurse practice act and under the direction and supervision of the appropriate client representative(s) on the assigned Emergency Care Unit.

The RN is required to be a graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing. Current and unrestricted RN nursing license in the state of practice is mandatory. One year of experience as an RN in an Emergency Department in the last three years.

Credentials

Current CPR at least to the ACLS level; TNCC and/or PALS, as required by client facility; and other health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory agencies.

• 2-3 years experience required, first time traveler ok
• Locals OK
• EMR - Meditech (experience preferred)
• Certs

  BLS, ACLS, PALS (all via AHA); CPI/CIC as required; facility may provide CPI/CIC training if needed

Environmental Working Conditions

Various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.

Representative Duties And Responsibilities

• Complies with ATC policies/procedures.
• Complies with client facility nursing policies/procedures.
• Conducts individualized patient assessment, prioritizing data collection based on needs and condition.
• Conducts ongoing nursing assessment as dictated by the patient’s condition and facility protocols.
• Collaborates with team members to develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care.
• Performs appropriate treatments and therapies as ordered by physician in a timely fashion.
• Performs hemodynamic monitoring as ordered by physician.
• Provides individualized patient and family teaching.
• Documents patient assessments, findings, and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions.
• Initiates emergency measures according to adult and pediatric resuscitation protocols.
• Maintains confidentiality as required by HIPAA.
• Delivers patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that respects cultural diversity and age appropriateness.
• Advocates patient rights with respect to advance directives and organ donation.
• Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel during and after each shift as needed.
• Maintains competency in emergency care through continuing education and state requirements.
• Complies with ethical standards of nursing practice as defined by professional organizations.
• Demonstrates ability to delegate appropriately.
