Structured Literacy Tutor

Patrick Beaver Learning Resource Center (PBLRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Hickory, NC, committed to supporting striving readers. Through evidence-based tutoring grounded in the Science of Reading, PBLRC works to improve academic outcomes, build confidence, and foster a love for learning. The organization partners with families, educators, and schools through one-on-one Structured Literacy Tutoring, parent information, and professional development initiatives.

This is a part-time on-site role in Hickory, NC for a Structured Literacy Tutor. The tutor will provide individualized, evidence-based instruction to students with learning differences, helping them build foundational literacy skills and confidence. Key responsibilities include preparing and delivering personalized lesson plans, monitoring student progress, documenting growth, and collaborating with families and staff to ensure student success. The tutor will utilize research-based methodologies aligned with the Science of Reading.

• Experience tutoring with structured literacy curriculums or the Orton-Gillingham approach preferred. However, additional training will be provided.
