The Construction Intern is a field‑focused position designed for students pursuing a career in commercial construction. This role provides hands‑on exposure to jobsite operations while developing the foundational technical and leadership skills aligned with a future Field Engineer career path. The Intern works closely with Superintendents and Project Managers to support safe, efficient, and high‑quality project execution.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with daily jobsite operations, coordination, and scheduling activities.
- Support subcontractor coordination and monitor progress under supervision.
- Participate in jobsite walks to observe quality control and safety compliance.
- Assist with maintaining project documentation, logs, and field reports.
- Support material tracking, deliveries, and inventory coordination.
- Attend subcontractor and safety meetings to gain exposure to field leadership processes.
- Learn DELCO field management systems, reporting tools, and construction workflows.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to learn.
- Currently pursuing (or planning to pursue) a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; exceptional high school students with a strong interest in construction and a clear career goal in this field are encouraged to apply.
- Strong interest in commercial construction and field operations.
- Basic understanding of construction processes and jobsite safety practices are preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with field teams and project leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to work in a field‑based environment and travel to job sites as needed.
- Previous internship, coop, or summer experience in construction.
- Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Demonstrated initiative, leadership potential, and interest in a Field Engineer career path.
- Hands‑on, real‑world field experience on active commercial projects.
- Direct mentorship from experienced Superintendents and Project Managers.
- Exposure to the full project lifecycle from mobilization to closeout.
