Overview
The Engineering function at the GSK Ware Manufacturing and Supply site is responsible for the provision of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation and controls systems for all production operations to ensure production targets are achieved. The Respiratory Supply Chain (RSC) engineering team work (on shift) to provide engineering expertise to support production activities. We are looking to recruit a Shift Engineer to join the Micronising and Blending team (in the Respiratory Supply Chain) to manage a shift of Engineering Technicians (up to 6 Direct Reports).
Reporting into an Engineering Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the following responsibilities.
- Managing and developing People, Plant and/or Equipment and/or Process understanding across the Ware Site.
- Work alongside fellow engineers, contractors, suppliers and consultants to deliver a range of engineering‑related activities to agreed levels of quality, cost, time and tangible benefits.
- Have responsibility for the overall performance of the process, including making improvements to ensure delivery of the Site's commercial strategy.
- Support with any regulatory auditor questions during inspections.
- Support the wider operations of GSK's manufacturing sites and fully understand all the regulatory and statutory requirements (Safety and Quality/GMP) that govern manufacturing business processes.
This role is a shift role which currently operates on DD (Double Days) – 16/5 (earlies & lates 8‑hour) shifts, working Monday to Friday. You will need to be flexible; up to 50% of hours may be outside normal hours, requiring a high degree of self‑reliance and ability to assess the impact of non‑standard safety and/or quality events.

QualificationsThis role would suit a motivated person who has strong experience of working in a complex GMP environment. You will be a qualified engineer, with strong people skills. A proven ability to drive performance is a must. It is imperative that you demonstrate an ability to drive common‑thinking, with a focus on providing solutions, be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset and proven experience dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups.
- Relevant qualifications and / or experience (Engineering HND/degree and relevant experience).
- Knowledge / experience in current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
- Engineering management experience, ideally obtained from working in a highly‑regulated manufacturing environment.
