Post-doctoral Scholar - General Internal Medicine
The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Medicine and the Sciamanna Lab, in Hershey, PA is seeking a Post-doctoral Scholar for a randomized controlled trial of exercise interventions designed to improve walking ability. The Sciamanna Lab has its mission to develop, test and scale a physical activity intervention to treat the 25% of older adults who report serious walking difficulty.
To accomplish this mission, the Sciamanna Lab designs and tests specific physical activity programs to engineer programs that are effective, have high rates of adherence, and are designed to be scalable to every region of the US. This work is done primarily with funding from grants from the National Institutes of Health, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), as well as other federal, state, and University funders.
This position will work in a research support role, collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data from subjects, assisting in the writing of research manuscripts, and working with other faculty and research study staff funded by Dr. Sciamanna's research grants.
Responsibilities- Assist in collecting research data
- Contribute to and initiate data analysis/design for use in technical reports and documentation
- Organize data for use in oral/written reports and presentations
- Collect, compile, and process research data
- Coordinate operational activities and provide support to researchers and technicians
- Assist in the development of analyses as well as manuscript preparation-based activities
- Investigate and evaluate research methods
- Collaborate with research study staff to oversee operations of the active research study and ensure program compliance with University policies
- Perform other functions as assigned by Dr. Sciamanna
- Doctoral degree (to be completed by time of start) in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or Psychology with a research focus on older adults

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
