Overview
Milton Hershey School (MHS) is seeking a Per-diem Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join the Health Center team. The CNA/CMA assists registered school nurses to provide high quality health care to MHS students in a 40-bed Health Center and in three school-based clinics for ill, injured, or postoperative students, as well as mental wellness services. The care services include assisting with admissions and discharge procedures of students, as well as transporting and accompanying students to and from medical appointments off-campus including emergency room visits.
The CNA/CMA must maintain confidentiality and personal and professional accountability while striving to provide high quality health care and programs that are “child-centered” consistent with the school’s mission and the Student Health Services program.
Per-diems work up to 29 hours per week and two 8-hour weekend shifts in a 4-week scheduling period. Pay: $18.36 - $23.46 per hour. Part-time employees are eligible for a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program (EAP), free lunches when on duty, and Hershey area discounts.
Responsibilities- Assist the registered school nurses to provide high quality health care to students.
- Support admissions and discharge procedures for students.
- Transport and accompany students to and from medical appointments off-campus, including emergency room visits.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional accountability; act as a role model for students.
- Engage with students beyond the scope of the job responsibilities as appropriate.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Valid current certification from a state-approved Nursing or Medical Assistant training program or equivalent, required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a certified nursing assistant or medical assistant, required.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications; OSHA training for blood-borne pathogens preferred.
- Physically able to lift and assist injured students.
- Experience working in a diverse workplace, preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a busy, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to actively engage with students beyond the scope of the job responsibilities.
- Demonstrated integrity; all MHS staff are role models for students.
