SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Penn State Health Medical Group – Contingency Pool seeks a determined and experienced Medical Assistant to join the travel pool team. Assignments span the South‑Central PA counties (Dauphin, Cumberland, Lancaster, York, Berks). The role floats to different Academic Practice Division (APD) Medical Group offices for daily/weekly assignments. Offices range from General Primary Care to single or multi‑specialty practices, providing variety in each day.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Room patients and prepare workstations for each encounter.
- Conduct point‑of‑care testing, perform phlebotomy, and administer injections.
- Administer medications and complete asynchronous administrative work.
- Work with varied patient populations ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
- Meet each assignment’s expectations, including the Contingency Pool’s standards and the assigned office’s specific requirements.
- Be punctual and promptly report to all assignments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90‑days of employment, or current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS certification within 6 months of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
- Previous outpatient experience.
