Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a pre-K through 12 private school serving students from disadvantaged backgrounds with a cost-free home and a high-quality education. The school offers Varsity, JV, Junior High, and Recreational teams for 15 sports and intramural programs, with athletic opportunities beginning in the Elementary and Middle Divisions and culminating at the Senior Division Varsity level.
The program has a history of competitive success, including Mid Penn Conference, PIAA District III, and PIAA State Championships, and many athletes advance to play at the college level after graduation. MHS is seeking Junior High (7th and 8th Grade) Football 1st Assistant Coaches for Fall 2026
.
Qualified applicants should demonstrate commitment to high achievement and support for all students in a diverse, multicultural environment. This is a one-year ancillary position with the opportunity for renewal; the season runs August to October with practices Monday through Friday from 3:30 pm-5:30 pm or 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. Games are held once per week, typically from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
Off-season work is flexible and necessary for this position. Stipend is based on experience and full-season commitment: $3,873 - $5,036 per season.
- Lead planning and execution of football practices for 7th and 8th grade teams, including skill development and conditioning.
- Support student-athletes in a diverse, inclusive environment and uphold high ethical standards and good character.
- Collaborate with coaching staff, administrators, and families to promote student engagement and safety.
- Be available for off-season activities as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Driver’s license required.
- At least 1 year of successful coaching experience or experience playing football at the collegiate level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current coaching techniques, rules and regulations, and training theory of the sport.
- Ability to teach beginner skills while developing athletes of varying skill levels in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to lead and inspire diverse youth.
- Experience working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds is preferred.
- Skills in providing safe, structured skill development and playing experiences while developing high character student athletes.
- Strong organizational and planning skills; high ethical standards and role-model behavior.
- Willingness to actively engage with students beyond job responsibilities.
