Overview
The Town of Herndon will resume regular trash and recycling collection on Monday, February 2, 2026. Crews will collect up to two additional bags of trash placed outside containers. Ongoing storm clean-up information is available HERE.

The purpose of this position is to perform semi-skilled, manual labor in a variety of construction, repair and maintenance assignments, such as but not limited to maintaining town grounds, repairing irrigation lines and operating grounds equipment.
ResponsibilitiesPosition is considered “essential personnel”; defined as staff who are required to report to their designated work location during weather related or other emergencies, even when town offices are closed or normal operations are suspended.
Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Flagger certification within six months of employment
- Virginia Pesticide Applicators Certificate desired
- Irrigation installation and maintenance experience preferred
6:30am - 3:00pm

Tasks may risk exposure to adverse, environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, violence, disease and pathogenic substances.
