Project Manager (M.E.P. / AEC) – Herndon, VA
Pay: $120,000 - $160,000 per year
We are seeking a MEP Project Manager to manage various types of engineering design projects and serve as the design team lead when interfacing with customers. You will work alongside the design team, managing scope and budgets. The ideal candidate will have experience with renovation and new projects for U.S. Embassies, Government Projects, Federal Agencies, DoD, SCIFS, Institutional Building, etc. US Citizenship Required, Active Secret or Top‑Secret Security Clearance Preferred or Ability to Obtain.
REQUIREMENTS- 10+ years of experience in managing AEC (Architectural/Engineering/Construction) related projects.
- 4‑year Degree (Engineering, Construction, Architectural Engineering, or Related field)
- US Citizenship Required
- Ability to Obtain Security Clearance Required. (Active Secret or Top‑Secret Security Clearance Preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Project.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
- Working knowledge of the FAR and Government contracting.
- Proven ability to manage multiple technical projects and to meet established deliverables.
- Proposal and budget/cost development particularly in government contracting.
- Cross‑Discipline Training – knowledgeable in multiple technical areas.
- The ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
- Familiar with cost and financial accounting standards, methodologies, and metrics.
- Ability to accurately and efficiently map staffing requirements to Statement of Work.
- Ability to coordinate own and others’ actions, manage own time and manage personnel resources.
- Excellent oral & written communication and analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Primary responsibility for all technical, schedule, and cost/budget responsibility for projects assigned.
- Establish project teams and complete project initiation documents:
Scope of Work, PSBS, Budget, and Storyboard for project. - Conduct project Kick‑Off meeting with team members to ensure distribution of project information including Scope of Work, Deliverables, Schedule, Budget Hours, etc.
- Coordinate with Finance & Accounting ahead of project kick‑off to ensure contract is set‑up correctly in Costpoint for billing and compliance purposes.
- Manage and control potential project scope changes. Lead and manage project team through the entire project completion. Ensure all members of project team are appropriately utilized throughout the project.
- Execute contractual agreements with clients in accordance with the firm’s guidelines.
- Responsible for appropriately mapping out project scope and appropriate staff resources to complete project.
- Overall responsibility for resource planning, cost estimating, cost budgeting and cost control of projects. Responsible for coordinating communication and managing expectations internally and externally.
- Maintain value‑added communication with client with respect to status and milestones.
- Keep project status reporting system current with actions and changes that take place on assigned projects.
- Takes ownership of project quality and coordinates quality control (QC) efforts in accordance with the firm’s guidelines.
- Through appropriate project pricing, budgeting, resource utilization and cost controls, maximize the profit margin of each project.
- Conduct post‑mortem review on all projects to determine client satisfaction, financial performance, staffing utilization, skill gaps, lessons learned.
