Overview
Our client is a commercial space technology company operating a growing constellation of satellites that collect and analyze radio frequency (RF) data from around the world. Their proprietary space-based sensors and advanced analytics platform deliver mission-critical insights to government and commercial customers across defense, security, maritime, and strategic intelligence markets.
As they scale their satellite constellation and cloud-based analytics platform, cybersecurity is foundational to protecting sensitive data, maintaining customer trust, and ensuring mission resilience.
They are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer to strengthen and advance our cloud security posture. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls across diverse cloud environments.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in cloud-native security technologies, hands-on engineering experience, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating threats in modern cloud and containerized ecosystems.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud environments
- Develop and enforce IAM policies, least-privilege access models, encryption standards, and secure configuration baselines
- Monitor cloud security events, investigate alerts, and drive mitigation and remediation efforts
- Integrate and manage cloud security platforms (e.g., Prisma, Wiz, Crowd Strike)
- Conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, and security architecture reviews for cloud-native applications
- Automate security processes using scripting (Python, Power Shell, Shell) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation, Crossplane)
- Partner with Dev Ops and engineering teams to embed security into CI/CD pipelines (Dev Sec Ops )
- Develop and maintain cloud security documentation, policies, and incident response playbooks
- Provide advisory support and training to development teams on secure coding and cloud security best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of hands-on cloud security engineering experience
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, encryption, and container security
- Experience securing Kubernetes and containerized workloads
- Hands-on experience with cloud security tools such as Prisma, Wiz, Crowd Strike, or similar platforms
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Power Shell, Shell)
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation, Crossplane)
- Working knowledge of Dev Sec Ops practices and CI/CD security integration
- Experience with SIEM/XDR platforms (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel, ELK) and cloud-native monitoring solutions
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as CMMC, NIST 800-171, and NIST 800-53
- Relevant certifications (Security+, CCSP, CISSP, AWS/GCP/Azure Security Specialty, etc.)
- Incident response experience in cloud environments
- Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture and SASE frameworks
