Job Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast‑paced technology company and a leader in data centers. We are expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for a proven technology manager with people‑management experience, robust technical understanding, and a vision to elevate AWS Data Center Operations. The successful candidate will create sustainable processes and standards; drive automation opportunities to reduce delivery cycle times;
and improve quality without impacting network availability.
- Prioritize and assign tasks to data center technicians and operators; provide project management, coaching, and documentation.
- Manage inbound capacity from receiving through deployment stages.
- Manage the installation of network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment.
- Guide, train, and educate staff on best practices related to all service owner issues.
- Manage tasks and deliverables across small to large‑size projects.
- Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs.
- Provide weekly reports to the data center manager.
- Coordinate team resources to support project and delivery needs, including emergency projects, change management and maintenance windows, and on‑call support.
- Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Host weekly staff meetings.
- Drive compliance with Amazon performance‑management requirements.
This role requires daily in‑person safety inspections, meetings, and operational tasks across Northern Virginia data center locations. Attendance at weekly regional manager staff meetings at AWS corporate locations (Herndon, VA) may be required.

BasicQualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant industry experience.
- 2+ years of data center engineering or operations experience.
- 2+ years of team‑management experience.
- 2+ years of networking experience (e.g., DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, TCP/IP).
- 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
- Experience building physical data center infrastructure such as copper/fiber cabling.
- Experience developing operational metrics to drive efficiencies.
- Experience representing your team/technical area to senior management.
- Experience contributing to the definition and implementation of automation opportunities within a deployment/build environment.
- Experience with lean methodologies and Six‑Sigma or similar qualifications.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies, installation, and design.
- Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment.
- Meets or exceeds Amazon’s leadership‑principle requirements for this role.
- Meets or exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.
