Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We’re seeking an experienced Infrastructure Technical Program Manager in Herndon or Arlington, VA to oversee data center build projects in the Northern Virginia region.

You will lead cross-functional and technical teams from conceptual design feasibility through requirements, budget, completed design, implementation, testing, and deployment. You will use judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence without authority, analytical talent, technical aptitude, and leadership to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders across multiple time zones, manage capital budgets, eliminate non-value-add activity, design solutions, remove blockers, and accelerate project delivery.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver safety and security while providing capacity at a competitive cost, and you’ll experience an inclusive culture that empowers you to own ideas to completion.

• Lead cross-functional and technical teams from concept through deployment of data center build projects in Northern Virginia.
• Facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues and remove barriers to success.
• Stand up cross-functional teams, establish trust with stakeholders across multiple time zones, manage capital budgets, and design solutions to accelerate delivery.
• Eliminate non-value-add activity and apply judgment, negotiation, and influence to keep projects on track.
• Apply a mix of project management tools, methodologies, and techniques across all project lifecycle phases, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and metrics.
• Coordinate remote delivery teams and ensure successful communication and execution across diverse groups.

• 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience
• Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds
• Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies related to infrastructure (network, data center, hardware, software)
• 5+ years of experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management

• Experience with data center builds, especially in a colocation context
• Experience managing data center infrastructure deployments; background in architecture/design, mechanical/electrical engineering, software/hardware engineering, or construction is advantageous

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
