Senior Software Engineer, Information Security

Position Summary

The Edge Ingress Security (EIS) team is the first line of defense for our global digital footprint. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to architect and deliver the next generation of security capabilities. In this role, you won't just write code; you will own the full software lifecycle, from initial design to large scale deployment, driving innovation across infrastructure, automation, and AI/ML integration.

The Edge Ingress Security team protects Walmart’s global internet presence — securing our eCommerce platforms, apps, and services that serve hundreds of millions of users daily. We innovate at scale to detect and mitigate automated threats, DDoS attacks, and other web-based abuse while maintaining fast, reliable, and secure customer experiences.

• Design and develop large scale, real-time distributed systems.

• Deliver end-to-end solutions covering UI, underlying infrastructure, and high-performance backend APIs.

• Develop the pipelines and integrations necessary to support large-scale data processing and machine learning models for threat detection.

• Build improved services to control the interoperability and mitigation logic between various ingress security layers.

• Identify bottlenecks in the development lifecycle and automate workflows to enhance team-wide productivity

• Proven experience in the end-to-end development lifecycle, from architecture and design to profiling, integration, and deployment.

• Proficiency in Golang, Python, React, JavaScript/Type Script, and Node.js

• Experience with automation framework

• Experience with both SQL and No
  
  SQL databases (e.g.,
  Cassandra
  ) and caching layers like Redis or Memcache
  .

• Expertise with modern monitoring tools such as Grafana

  .

• Solid understanding of SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.

• A strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive initiatives with minimal oversight and communicate complex technical issues to diverse audiences.

• 5+ years of professional work experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Knowledge of bot management platforms and how web properties operate at scale.

• Practical experience with behavioral analytics, machine learning, or risk-scoring systems.

• Prior exposure to large-scale production environments or eCommerce platforms.
