This is an exciting opportunity to use the latest cloud computing technologies to help U.S. Government agencies implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems. AWS has established a specialized group of service teams responsible for the work with the U.S. Intelligence Community. We are building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world, and we need adaptable people to help us implement and operate them.
The AWS Intelligence team is seeking highly motivated engineers who focus on operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations. You should have a solid understanding of Linux, networking, and general knowledge of cloud services. You will execute defined tasks on schedule, identify ineffective processes, detect defects in technical implementations, and ensure high availability, performance, and maintainability. You will understand operational risk, avoid unnecessary risks, and resolve, mitigate, or appropriately raise operational concerns in a timely manner.
This is a shift‑work position in a 24/7 operations environment. You may be required to work nights and/or weekends.
You must currently possess a valid TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and must opt into a clearance commensurate with each government agency for which you perform AWS work.
On a typical day, you may dive deep to find the root cause of a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending incorrectly, or explore radical new approaches to automate operational processes. You will work with a dedicated group of engineers providing troubleshooting and operations support and innovate to automate operational tasks.

Basic Qualifications- High school or equivalent diploma, or A+ or CND (Certified Network Defender) or Network+ or Security+
- 1-3 years of experience with System Administration in Linux/Unix (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat, Solaris, etc.)
- 1-3 years of experience with Networking (TCP/IP, DNS)
- 1-3 years of experience with Troubleshooting/Support for technical IT issues
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Experience with internet fundamentals and cloud computing concepts
- Experience with virtualization (Hypervisors, VMware, Xen)
- Knowledge of security best practices
- Experience with AWS core services, Command Console, or command‑line interface
- Experience with compute, database and storage concepts
- Experience with IPsec, VPN, Load Balancing, Iperf, MTR, Routing Protocols, SSH, Network Monitoring/Troubleshooting tools;
Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,900 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $152,000 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
