What You’ll Be DoingAs a Senior Bridge & Structural Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for total project ownership
, from early planning through final design and construction support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading bridge and structural design projects from concept through construction.
- Managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality assurance
. - Coordinating and guiding multidisciplinary engineering teams and subconsultants.
- Developing construction plans, technical drawings, and structural submittal documents
. - Providing hands‑on structural engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Creating and maintaining project schedules, management plans, and quality plans
. - Monitoring financial performance, invoices, and project reporting.
- Communicating project status clearly to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Building strong client relationships and understanding agency requirements.
- Mentoring engineers through coaching, feedback, and performance development.
- Supporting proposal development, Go/No‑Go decisions, interviews, and marketing efforts.
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
To be considered, candidates must meet all of the following
:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering focus
. - Degree must be from an ABET‑accredited engineering program
. - 10+ years of bridge and structural design experience.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Virginia
. - Proven experience managing bridge or transportation structure projects
. - Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work full‑time onsite in Herndon, VA (local or relocation‑ready).
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Experience working with VDOT and Virginia localities or agencies.
- Familiarity with Design‑Bid‑Build, Design‑Build, and P3 delivery methods.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
. - Background in large or multi‑office engineering firms.
- Exposure to public‑sector transportation and infrastructure projects.
Tools & Technical Environment
- Project scheduling and management tools (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar).
- Structural design and drafting platforms (AutoCAD, Micro Station, or similar).
- Document management systems (Project Wise, SharePoint, or similar).
- Primarily office‑based (approximately 95%).
- Occasional field visits to active project sites.
- Field conditions may include varying weather and light lifting (up to 25 lbs).
