The AWS Health and Safety (H&S) team is an expanding dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS’s growth around the world, as well as ensuring compliance of AWS’s global operations, including physical data centers, as well as other AWS facilities, customer‑facing enterprises and products. The H&S team has responsibility for architecting and implementing AWS’s global safety programs. This includes defining and implementing risk management and compliance systems and driving their continuous improvement;

setting and refining global policies and procedures; overseeing the development of standards, tools, auditing and metrics, and employee training; ensuring effective engagement by H&S teams on global initiatives, including those that are part of Amazon’s ambitious sustainability goals; providing specialist expertise; and engaging with all AWS business units to provide scalable and H&S compliance strategies that support current and future business objectives while ensuring employee safety and compliance with H&S regulations.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated electrical safety expert with a solid knowledge in electrical safety, and a proven track record of designing, deploying, and managing electrical safety programs. They will have a history of building partnerships with diverse teams across multiple jurisdictions. The candidate must have the ability to define clear requirements in ambiguity, proactively educate team members, leaders, and other support teams, and communicate effectively and consistently throughout all levels of the business.

The role will evolve with the maturity and growth of the program and requires a high degree of flexibility, including the ability to deep dive into time critical programs and projects, and deliver continuous improvement actions.

• Maintain an up to date understanding of Electrical Safety regulatory requirements and be able to build compliance systems and programs around these requirements.
• Develop and improve maintenance programs and policies for electrical systems, including audits of existing programs in compliance with local codes and global standards.
• Partner with Risk Management and other key stakeholders in changes to the electrical system maintenance programs, aligning with insurance requirements as applicable, including system inspections and testing.
• Perform detailed calculations to establish standards and specifications.
• Inspect installations and observe operations to ensure compliance with design and equipment specifications and safety standards.
• Support operations, construction, and other relevant departments with product development and testing.
• Audit electrical system maintenance practices globally to identify deviations and corrective actions.
• Monitor trends in electrical system maintenance reports, and elevate as necessary to drive improvements to maintenance activities, or immediate corrective actions to electrical systems.
• Develop and improve installation, commissioning, and inspection processes, including audit practices, related to electrical systems.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert in electrical safety. Consult, answer questions, perform studies, research and direct electrical safety operations and procedures.
