Job Summary

Retro Commissioning Engineer role at Amazon Web Services in Northern Virginia. The role focuses on retro commissioning of electrical and mechanical infrastructure in existing data centers.

• Provide testing and validation oversight of data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
• Review of as-built documents, equipment submittals and lead Factory Witness Testing.
• Manage third‑party commissioning vendors and ensure compliance with environmental, quality and safety requirements.
• Lead multiple projects simultaneously, manage project budgets, and report progress to the Regional Commissioning Manager.
• Audit vendor activities, coordinate maintenance windows, and communicate lessons learned to peers.

• 5+ years of engineering, installation or startup/commissioning experience of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• High technical competency in mechanical or electrical or control systems used in critical infrastructure.
• Experience reviewing mechanical or electrical design documentation, including drawings, specifications and vendor submittals.
• Develop and review commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts and reports to ensure accuracy.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in high‑stress environments.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructure.
• Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems based on design intent and approved equipment submittals.
