Data Scientist 4 – Richmond, VA (Remote; Richmond area only)

Job Summary: The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) seeks a Data Scientist to support its Richmond office. This remote role will provide expertise and support to the DJJ Human Resources team in data reporting, validation, and visualization. The Data Scientist will develop an interactive Power BI dashboard and establish a data warehouse to capture, store, and organize HR data.

• Build and enhance an interactive Power BI dashboard that includes key metrics such as agency position count, agency headcount, demographics, turnover, retention trends, leave usage, absenteeism, time-to-fill, vacant positions, and additional metrics as required.
• Create a data warehouse that collects, stores, and organizes raw HR data and updates automatically for ad‑hoc reporting.
• Validate and clean HR data to ensure consistency, accuracy, and usability for reporting and strategic initiatives.
• Communicate with functional stakeholders to understand data requirements and train them on dashboard usage.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Power BI, SQL, Python, SAS, and data management & development.
• Experience working with raw HR data points and current reporting techniques.
• Strong analytical, visualization, and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and train end users.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or green‑card holder.
• W‑2 employment only.

• Salary: $95,000–$100,000 per year, plus benefits.
