Senior Accountant

Heritage Golf Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team based in Herndon, Virginia. This role is responsible for supporting the financial reporting and accounting operations for a portfolio of club properties. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with month-end close and account reconciliations, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Perform month-end close activities, including posting general ledger journal entries, importing sales data, and completing account reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for assigned properties, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, and supporting schedules.
• Complete bank reconciliations across multiple high-volume operating accounts.
• Prepare and reconcile asset and liability account schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare documentation and schedules required for monthly, quarterly, and year-end audits.
• Prepare, reconcile, and file monthly sales tax returns in applicable jurisdictions.
• Analyze accounting transactions and financial reports to identify variances, trends, and potential discrepancies.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of budgets and financial forecasts, including variance reporting between budgeted and actual results.
• Support operational accounting functions as needed, including coordination with accounts payable and club finance teams.
• Assist with special projects and financial analysis as assigned by the Controller.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong understanding of GAAP principles.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience working with accounting systems or club management/POS software preferred (Jonas experience is a plus).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

This position reports directly to the Controller.

This role is based at Heritage Golf Group’s Corporate Headquarters in Herndon, VA and requires working in-office full time.
