Registered Nurse – PCU
Unit Name: PCU
Requirements:
Valid TN RN License or Compact RN License in good standing
Minimum 2 years of PCU experience
Certifications
Required:
BLS, ACLS
Must Have:
Strong critical thinking
EKG rhythm interpretation
Cardiac drip, insulin drip, and heparin drip experience
Peripheral IV skills
Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
Advanced Skills Needed:
ACLS
Experience with BiPAPs, high-flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
Stroke and post–cardiac cath care
Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
Tube feeding and NG/Dobhoff tube experience
Procedures Performed on Unit:
Peritoneal dialysis
Thoracentesis
Paracentesis
Chest tube insertions
Dobhoff/NG tube insertions
Central line dressing changes
Wound vac troubleshooting
Unit Specifics
Number of Beds: 630 has 34 beds / 633 has 25 beds
Patient Ratios:
Days 1:4–1:5 / Nights 1:5–1:6
Unit Staffing:
630: 3 techs when full
633: 2 techs when full
Equipment:
BiPAPs, high-flow O2, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac/heparin/insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis, wound vacs
Documentation System:
Meditech
Scheduling Requirements: 3×12 hr shifts/week; every other weekend (contract)
Floating Policy:
May float between PCU units or to Med-Surg floors
Patient Experience Requirements:
Hourly rounding on days; every 2 hours on nights
AIDET
Communication boards (630 uses standard boards / 633 uses TV communication boards)
Dress Code:
Black scrubs
Express Healthcare Staffing of Nashville Job . Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
