Journeyman Electrician at GSHCS, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical electrical systems and components across the entire hospital facility. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining and troubleshooting systems for heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, motors, fire alarms, and emergency generator equipment.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions
:
- Install, maintain, and enhance electrical systems and components, including fuses, lights, and wiring, to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations and patient safety.
- Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems and components promptly to minimize downtime and mitigate risks.
- Perform all electrical work in strict adherence to national and local electrical codes, blueprints, and industry standards, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Calibrate equipment to provide specifications, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components to extend asset life and prevent failures.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical problems, identify root causes, and make timely and effective repairs.
- Complete all required documentation for repairs, service information, and maintenance activities accurately and thoroughly.
- Maintain adequate inventory of necessary supplies and parts to ensure readiness for all electrical tasks.
- Support the hospital's mission, vision, and values by consistently adhering to policies and procedures.
- The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
- Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred: NA
Licenses/ certifications/ registrations
Required:
Valid State issued Driver’s License required. Oregon Journeyman Electrician license required.
Preferred:
Completion of an electrician program at a technical or trade school preferred.
Experience
Required:
5 years of experience ensuring the safe and reliable operation of critical electrical systems in a healthcare environment.

Other:
- Thorough knowledge of electrical codes (e.g., NEC), blueprints, schematics, and industry standards relevant to healthcare facilities.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex electrical systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, fire alarms, and emergency power generators.
- Proficiency in the use of various electrical testing equipment and tools.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe environment and strict adherence to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of hospital safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans (fire, disaster).
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement improvements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including co‑workers, contractors, patients/families, physicians, and hospital administration.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team in a dynamic, fast‑paced healthcare environment.

- Strict adherence to all GSHCS policies, procedures, professional dress code, and ethical standards.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all patients and hospital information, in full compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to promote a healing environment by contributing to a peaceful, orderly, and clean facility.
- Ability to take evening and weekend calls on a rotating basis.
