Balfour Beatty Construction, locally branded as Howard S Wright, is seeking a Superintendent to work on various projects in Eastern Oregon. The Superintendent is responsible for all field operations, including the coordination of subcontractors' work. Responsible for all field activities associated with the project, including ultimate responsibility for implementation of Safety/Zero Harm program for the job site, supervision of all field construction work by subcontractors and self-performed work.
Shares responsibility with the project manager for developing the project budget, actively participating in the preconstruction phase, and ensuring that the project is built on time, within budget, and according to company policies and procedures. Manages and mentors assistant superintendents and other field personnel.
Safety: ZERO HARM
- Lead, Oversee, and Educate Owners, Subcontractors, Team Members, and Community on the Zero Harm safety culture and its benefits.
- Perform project safety walks. Lead in project safety meetings.
- Lead Safety Stand downs, toolbox talks, etc.
- Participate in incident investigations
- Ensure safety is properly incorporated into job planning and project execution.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, construction managers, architects/engineers, subcontractors, key stakeholders, and the community.
- Prepare operations-related components of proposals and presentations
- Lead construction delivery portions of presentations
Project Financial Responsibility to ensure a project is delivered within budget
- Assist in Project Cost Projection and Financial Reporting (Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly),
- Budget Reviews
- Review and approve monthly owner and subcontractor pay applications
- Communicate with the Project Manager on potential extra charges and proper Cost Event tracking and Notifications.
- Change Order negotiations.
Preconstruction
- Assists with Estimates
- Assist with Constructability/ Value Engineering,
- Create and update Phase and Site Logistic plans
- Create Overall Project schedule
- Assist in the creation of project GC and GR budgets, Staff Planning,
- Assist in Scope Writing
- Review of Owner Contract.
- Identify Risk
- Participate in Preconstruction Meeting with Owner and Subcontractors, etc.
Planning & Scheduling
- Develop the Overall Project Plan, Phasing, Logistics Milestones and Schedule
- Perform schedule updates (prefer P6 experience)- Monthly Updates, 3-week look-ahead, etc
- Lead pull planning sessions with subcontractors and other key stakeholders
- Delay tracking and Notifications. Time Impact Analysis Development
- Procurement Tracking
- Ability to Identify, Navigate and negotiate schedule roadblocks, etc.
- Cost Loaded Schedule experience is a plus.
Project Administration, Operations, and Close-out

- Lead with Project Manager, Owner, Architect, Contractor (OAC), and Key Stakeholder meetings - Lead weekly subcontractor meetings
- Participate in Monthly Project Reporting (MPR) preparation and discussions
- Communicate job needs/issues as necessary
- Lead the Project Quality Control Program, Preconstruction Meeting, first work inspections, etc.
- Assist in closeout of project, subcontractors, and vendors. Lead project punch-list completion
- Obtain certificate of occupancy and government approvals
Build Effective Teams, Foster Positive Culture, Leadership and Employee Development. Mentor, train and develop personnel in all aspects of their careers. Provide timely feedback and ensure that employees participate in the performance review process.
Minimum Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ten years or more of commercial construction field experience on K-12 and or Higher ED Construction. Both are not required
