Maintenance Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical)

Role Summary:
Responsible for coordinating and delivering electrical and mechanical maintenance across production lines and site facilities. Ensures maximum equipment reliability, compliance with safety and quality standards, and continuous improvement of operational performance while driving down downtime and maintenance costs.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Engineering
Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery.
Minimise breakdown time and improve Right First Time (RFT) performance.
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) on equipment failures and implement corrective/preventative actions.
Support installation and commissioning of new machinery.
Maintain inspection readiness and GMP standards across engineering areas.
Ensure critical spare parts availability in collaboration with Engineering Stores.
Health & Safety
Promote a strong Health & Safety culture with a target of zero RIDDOR incidents.
Conduct risk assessments (RAMS, COSHH, manual handling) and safety audits.
Investigate accidents and near misses, implementing preventative measures.
Ensure safe systems of work and compliance with site safety standards.
Quality & Compliance
Support compliance with ISO
9001, ISO 14001, BRC and relevant food safety standards.Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure full traceability.
Promote hygiene and environmental compliance when working on equipment.
Complete monthly self-audits in line with technical standards.
Continuous Improvement & Performance
Champion CI initiatives including 5S and problem-solving techniques.
Implement and support Operator Asset Care (OAC) programmes.
Analyse equipment trends to improve reliability and efficiency.
Work cross-functionally with Production to improve machine setup, changeovers, and basic maintenance skills.
Cost Control
Drive reductions in downtime and maintenance-related waste.
Operate within engineering budget controls.
Ensure cost-effective sourcing of parts and materials.
People & Teamwork
Mentor new team members and promote skill development.
Collaborate professionally with Engineering and Production teams.
Contribute to a positive, high-performance working culture.
