The Instrument Technician, Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex repairs, installs, assembles, and troubleshoots all types of process instrumentation and some analyzers.

Instrumentation includes measurement of pressure, temperature, level, flow, local recorders, controllers, indicators, and final control elements such as control valve positioners, solenoid operated valves, etc. Analyzers may include wet basis such as pH/ORP, ambient area monitors, combustion excess O₂/CO, etc. The Technician will work both indoors and outdoors exposed to weather elements. Some climbing and lifting. Occasionally, the Technician will climb, lift, and work in confined spaces or at elevated heights.

The Technician must be willing/able to respond to callouts during off‑hours due to business necessity.

This position is on a 4/10 work schedule
, but occasional shift work including days, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required based on business need and during turnaround events.

What You’ll Do
  • Participate and/or plan the safety process (i.e., JSA's/TSA’s) and perform safety observations to ensure all plans are in compliance with applicable government regulations and established company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Work with Operations and other groups to fully understand the scope, priority, and timing needed for maintenance repairs. Ensure all work is completed in a safe, environmentally compliant, and cost‑effective manner.
  • Review work prior to start, ensuring materials, resources, information, and tools are on hand to achieve high levels of craft productivity.
  • Execute/complete daily and preventative maintenance work orders.
  • Initiate equipment defect elimination by identifying problem causes, take immediate corrective action when practical, and recommend solutions to supervisors and engineers.
  • Develop/modify maintenance or safety procedures related to maintenance work processes, individually or as part of a team.
  • Review technical manuals/procedures/specifications (in English) to effectively perform assigned work.
  • Coordinate work of others, as needed.
  • Work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with all employee levels.
  • Share knowledge, skills, and expertise with associates to facilitate a high performing organization.
  • Work with the Environmental Department to understand and comply with regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Bring – Required
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform/comply with the following:
    • Work overtime (including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts)
    • Respond to after‑hours callouts
    • Lift up to 50 pounds
    • Work in enclosed spaces such as tanks and silos
    • Work safely near large, hot, high‑speed machines
    • Climb up to 200 feet in height; work at elevated heights
    • Work around chemicals, including acids and bases
    • Wear Nomex fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel‑toed shoes, ear/eye protection)
    • Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly
    • Ability to be on call and respond to callouts during off‑hours due to business necessity
    • Work outside in harsh weather condition
    • Able to read, follow and understand (in English) schematics, drawings (including ladder logic), and P&'s
