Summary
Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care in a hospital setting using the nursing process.
Responsibilities
- Administers patient care under physician supervision, identifying expected outcomes in collaboration with the care team.
- Records care plans, nursing interventions, and patient responses.
- Provides competent clinical nursing care according to standards, policies, and procedures.
- Organizes and prioritizes care based on patient/family needs, consulting resources for complex cases or discharge planning.
- Collaborates with peers and fosters effective communication across departments.
- Synthesizes data to determine care priorities, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Communicates with patients and families to develop and update care plans with cultural sensitivity and active listening.
- Develops clinical and operational skills through ongoing education and training.
- Maintains a safe, clean hospital environment, adhering to infection control standards.
- Ensures competency in required skills with annual assessments and adheres to policies.
Other Information
Some units may require ACLS certification prior to clinical care; training will be provided.
Minimum Requirements
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or a compact state by the start date.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting.
