The CMA interviews and initiates care for patients who visit our clinics and performs key tasks in patient care, up to and including specimen collection and delivery of test results.

• Interviews patients to collect and document history of present illness (HPI), medication reconciliation, and history of allergies.
• Performs vital sign measurement and any standard testing per clinic procedures.
• Coordinates and performs follow-on procedures as directed by a provider, including onsite testing, specimen collection, and wound care.
• Assists with provider-performed procedures such as suture application or splints.
• Communicates with patients regarding their care, notifies patients of test and lab results, and explains practice policies and procedures using cultural competency and active listening.
• Documents care into the electronic medical record (EMR) system and ensures completion of necessary documentation and forms.
• Collects and prepares testing specimens for transport to offsite laboratories as needed.
• Maintains and monitors consumable supplies and medications for ongoing clinical operations.
• Promotes a safe, clean, and secure clinical environment, applying standard precautions and infection control principles.

Required:

• Current Medical Assistant certification. Accepted credentials include:
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) — National Health career Association (NHA)
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) — American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) — American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• Medical Assistant (NCMA) — National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) — American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
• BLS certification
• Ability to lift supplies and move about the clinical areas as required

Preferred:

• Prior clinical experience
