Deputy Sheriff

Overview

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for Full Time Deputy Sheriff position in the Henderson County Sheriff Office Patrol Division.

Duties and Responsibilities: Performs law enforcement services to protect lives, property and the rights of the citizens of Henderson County on behalf of the Sheriff. Provides law enforcement services in accordance with federal, state and local laws and the Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures. Performs law enforcement duties in various assignments within the agency to include but not limited to Patrol, K9, Warrants, Civil Process, Swat Team, Animal Enforcement, Field Training, School Resource, Parks & Recreation and Department of Social Services.

Provides these services in a professional, courteous, compassionate, and fair manner. Performs duties involving high levels of personal danger. Performs duties with limited supervision and exercises independent discretion while addressing job related situations.

• High school diploma or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
• Prior experience in law enforcement, investigations, or security work is beneficial.
• Must comply with relevant Federal Emergency Management Agency incident command training appropriate to level.

• Possession of Basic Law Enforcement Officer Certificate issued by the State of North Carolina in accordance with the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission.
• Must meet and maintain minimum qualifications for the position established by the Sheriff’s Office (as defined in the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Standardized Training Requirements) and the State of North Carolina.
• Maintain any licensure required by additional assignment.
