• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
• Replaces defective components as instructed and works unsupervised on most tasks.
• Performs facility maintenance duties and interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint.
• Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation; adheres to all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
• Mentors Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels and accesses internal/external maintenance documents.
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support).
• SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
  220) and completes OEM On-Line diagnostic tool software courses as required by location fleet mix (completed within 365 days).

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational/Technical certification or post-secondary technical degree preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work, basic diagnostics and repairs (including AC and electrical systems).
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
• All required certifications as required by location; CDL CLASS A preferred.
• Must have minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment.
• Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire; pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/motor vehicle check from previous 3 years.
