Position: Phlebotomy Instructor (Part-Time)

The Adjunct Phlebotomy Instructor provides high-quality instruction in phlebotomy through traditional classroom, laboratory, and skills-based teaching strategies. The instructor prepares students to demonstrate competency in phlebotomy procedures and to successfully complete clinical requirements and national certification examinations.

The following duties represent the essential functions of the position. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the instructor may be assigned additional responsibilities as needed.   • Instruct and evaluate students in assigned phlebotomy courses.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Allied Health to support all instructional activities within the program.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, instructional hours, academic progress, and grades in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and update instructional materials to meet Allied Health program needs.
  • Demonstrate and supervise proper phlebotomy techniques to prepare students for clinical practice and national certification examinations.
  • Ensure instruction aligns with current industry standards, safety protocols, and accreditation requirements.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to assigned students, as required.
  • Participate in assigned institutional committees and attend scheduled meetings.
  • Engage in professional development and required training as directed by the supervisor.
  • Accept additional instructional or program-related assignments as designated by the supervisor.
  • Maintain current proficiency in phlebotomy skills and practices.
Education and Experience Required
  • Associate degree in a health-related field.
  • Minimum of five (3) years of professional work experience
  • Current phlebotomy certification with a National Phlebotomy Board.
Education and Experience Preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a health-related field.
  • Five (5) years of professional work experience.
  • At least one year experience teaching adult learners.
  • Must be able to lift objects from a low to high position or move objects horizontally from position to position.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to apply pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Must have feeling in fingertips to detect size, shape, temperature, or texture.
  • Must be able to stand for substantial periods of time.
  • Must be able to extend arms and hands in any direction.
  • Must have close visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work of students.
