About the Opportunity
In this role, you will leverage your expertise to shape and maintain critical cost information in line with AS4817‑2006/2019 and the Defence Supplement, ensuring ASC’s programs meet rigorous industry and Defence expectations.
As a key contributor within the Program Services team, you will operate in a dynamic environment focused on continuous cost‑efficiency improvement—directly supporting ASC’s Beyond Benchmark Cost Efficiency objectives and driving demonstrable value‑for‑money for all stakeholders.
To be successful, you will draw on your ability to interpret and integrate data across complex business systems, including ASC’s ERP platform, Contract Management, Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, and Project Accounting & Finance. Your work will help influence major decision‑making, reinforce cost assurance, and strengthen commercial outcomes across high‑profile Defence programs.
Responsibilities- Maintain accurate cost and schedule data in line with AS/2019 and Defence Supplement requirements.
- Gather and combine key project information; budgets, actual costs, progress, and forecasts, from systems like the corporate scheduling tool, project ledger, and ERP into ASC’s EVM tool.
- Provide clear, timely insights to help project managers understand performance and make informed decisions.
- Look for opportunities to improve cost efficiency and support ASC’s value-for-money goals.
- Build a strong understanding of ASC’s business systems and data flows across ERP, Contract Management, Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, and Finance to ensure accurate and meaningful reporting.
- Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Commerce/Economics, Engineering or equivalent.
- 5–8 years’ experience in Earned Value Management (EVM) within a Project Controls team or project management environment.
- Exposure to defence, shipbuilding, sustainment, or other highly regulated, process-driven industries.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communicator, confident working with project managers and cross-functional teams.
- Resilient and adaptable, comfortable navigating compliance-heavy processes.
- Inquisitive and solution-focused, approaching challenges with problem-solving rather than roadblocks.
- Understands the importance of maintaining program momentum and is motivated to prove themselves within a vitally important program for ASC and Australia’s defence capability.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
