Purpose:
The Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day site operations including supervising warehousing, receiving, and shipping in alignment with company service and cost objectives. Responsibilities include planning inbound/outbound volume, customer communication, space and equipment management, and people management (hiring, training, performance appraisals, addressing issues, and discipline when needed).
As part of the DSV team, associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality, and to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensures the development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner in accordance with company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Creates and manages operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals; complies with terms outlined in client SLAs.
- Drives continuous improvement efforts and identifies ideas for more efficient operations and ongoing cost savings.
- Meets all client-specified KPIs and complies with quality system requirements.
- Leads operations to achieve objectives; applies communication and motivational techniques, supervises fairly, and addresses performance issues.
- Collaborates with Human Resources on hiring, training, development, and participates in performance evaluation for promotions and wage decisions.
- Delivers results by leveraging the right people at the right time.
- Keeps senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues.
- Plans daily work schedules, reviews orders and instructions, and assigns duties to warehouse staff based on priorities and resources.
- Assesses volume demands to plan for warehouse space reorganization and changes in supplies, equipment, or staffing needs.
- Ensures effective training is delivered to team members by qualified individuals and adherence to SOPs (DSV and client).
- Monitors trainee progress to determine performance and cultural fit.
- Maintains high motivation to provide high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Provides ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
- Supports adherence to SOPs and conducts regular staff meetings to review activities.
- Management Information Systems: ensures all team members are properly trained and efficient in required information systems (including WMS) to meet objectives and facilitate operations; ensures IT policies are followed; stays informed about hardware/software changes; develops client system proficiency.
- Customer Management: maintains high levels of customer service, ensures client accounts receive necessary support, maintains contact with functions, and participates in meetings with key customers; coordinates visits with suppliers/customers; promotes excellent service.
- Budgeting/Financials: supports annual operating budget development and manages controls to meet service levels within cost, revenue, and profit parameters; assists with budgeting and pricing compliance with contract guidelines.
- Equipment & Facilities: manages programs for sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and MHE; ensures training on MHE; stays informed on new technology and makes recommendations.
- Safety: fosters a proactive safety culture; audits for safety, security, and quality compliance; adheres to laws and regulations.
- Other Duties: may work overtime as required and perform other duties as assigned.
- Manages warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.
