FACILITIES MANAGER About the Opportunity

As the Facilities Manager for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you’ll be responsible for leading and governing all facility, utilities, and site support functions at a large steel shipbuilding facility in Perth, WA. This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role with accountability for infrastructure reliability, safety, compliance, and operational service delivery that enables complex vessel construction, outfitting, heavy lifts, and launch activities.

You will manage a diverse portfolio of assets and services including buildings, hardstands, waterfront and berth services, fixed and mobile plant, utilities, environmental management, scaffolding, lifting equipment, and site security ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with production and capital delivery objectives.

• Lead all facility, utilities, and infrastructure operations across a major shipbuilding site.
• Develop, deliver, and track site capital expenditure programs, including upgrades and lifecycle renewals.
• Own maintenance budgets, forecasts, and cost control for preventive, corrective, and infrastructure maintenance.
• Govern IFS Plant Maintenance (CMMS/EAM) configuration, data integrity, scheduling, and performance reporting.
• Oversee fixed and mobile plant maintenance, cranes, EWPs, scaffolding, rigging, heavy haulage, and unit/vessel movements.
• Manage berth and waterfront services, including power, water, fire systems, spill response, shore services, and waste reception.
• Ensure compliant management of environmental and waste streams (scrap steel, abrasives, hazardous waste, recycling).
• Lead utilities and energy systems (HV/LV power, diesel gensets, compressed air, industrial gases, HVAC, water and fire services).
• Provide leadership for site safety systems, permits, fire and life safety, emergency response, and physical security.
• Partner closely with Production, Planning, Projects, HSE, and external contractors to support on‑time, on‑quality delivery.

• Degree in Engineering, Asset/Facilities Management, or equivalent experience.
• Relevant high‑risk licences and safety qualifications desirable.
• Eligibility to hold required site or defence‑related clearances (as applicable).
• Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance and familiarity with ITAR regulations (desirable).
