Position: Project Engineer I/II - Traffic Engineering*

Project Engineer I/II - Traffic Engineering

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Project Engineer I/II - Traffic Engineering in the Department of Public Works.
The department will consider and may hire a candidate who is qualified at either the level I or level II in the Project Engineer series. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Under general supervision, manages, plans, and executes professional engineering activities related to City projects in compliance with regional and local master plans, codes, and best practices; performs professional level design services requiring state registration and performs related duties as assigned.

Traffic Engineering Responsibilities
  • Reviews design of traffic studies; inspects, studies, and analyzes proposals regarding traffic engineering problems
  • Assists the Traffic Engineer with budget, management, and design of traffic maintenance improvements
  • Participates in the review of development plans for compliance with both State and City codes
Salary and Benefits
  • Competitive Salary Range for Project Engineer I $78,025.16 - $ annually and for Project Engineer II $87,650. annually; salary placement for non-represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity

Project Engineer I Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
  • Two (2) years of responsible, diversified experience in a civil engineering environment, or an equivalent combination of closely related training and experience
  • Note:

    An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
  • Must possess a valid registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT)/Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination at the time of application or the ability to obtain such registration within six (6) months of hire
  • Must have the ability to obtain registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Nevada
  • Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or border state driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
  • All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by local, state, and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained and maintained as a condition of continued employment and at the incumbents’ expense
  • Desirable:
    Public works project experience with streets, flood control, traffic, utility systems, and local improvement districts
Project Engineer II Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • Four (4) years of responsible, diversified experience in a civil engineering environment
