Nicklin Community Management is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our team! If you're passionate about numbers, organization, and supporting a high-performing accounting department, we want to hear from you.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Prepare monthly accrual-basis financial statements for a portfolio of unique single-family, condominium, and townhome associations within the required timeframe
- Review and post monthly general ledger journal entries as needed, including between funds
- Monthly reconciliations for all bank, ICS, and CD accounts
- Review and analyze entries made by accounts payable and accounts receivables clerk and correct any discrepancies
- Analyze monthly actual vs. budget comparison and reclassify any invoices or entries as needed
- Assist Community Managers, other accounting employees, and board members with questions or requests
- Assist professional CPAs in the preparation of annual audits, reviews, and tax returns
- Post adjusting journal entries provided by CPAs annually
- Review annual budgets for community associations and provide analysis/corrections as needed
- Maintain accurate schedules and ensure balances match balance sheets
- Post monthly reserve transfer journal entries as needed
- Review employee logs and accurately bill back associations for copies, postage, and other contracted fees
- Help train other accounting employees as needed
- Review IRS communications and follow up as needed
- Write off balances to bad debt as approved by the board of directors
- Assist with new accounts as needed, including posting of beginning balance journal entries
- Ability to multitask with ease, effectively work in an environment of high volume, and be flexible to handle changing priorities and short time frames to complete work assignments.
- Ability to keep work assignments moving forward quickly and on schedule
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with various people.
- Have a solid accounting mind and skillset
- Can handle confidential matters discreetly and professionally.
- Attention to detail to ensure that high-quality work is delivered.
- Must have excellent computer skills, including a solid background using Microsoft Excel and Word, specialized HOA-specific software, and Adobe
- May be required to sit for extended periods related to computer usage and required finger/hand/wrist movements. Ability to bend or stretch for filing purposes, filling a copy machine, etc.
- Ability to follow through on tasks and commitments
- HOA experience is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Job Type
:
Full-time (40 hours/week, Monday through Friday)
