Ellis Park offers live thoroughbred horse racing during the summer season, with simulcast wagering 365 days a year, 300 HHR machines, exciting promotions, convenient sports betting, The Pea Patch Deli, Dade Park Grill and more.

A Gift Shop Clerk will greet the customers, scan bar codes or enter price of merchandise into a cash register, stocks and rotates merchandise, and thanks customers while ensuring a safe, clean and efficient operation.

• Operate a point of sale system/cash register (e.g., maintain change in cash drawer; accept cash, checks, and bankcards for payment; calculate discounts; ensure proper identification for certain transactions; count money; return correct change; issue receipts; balance cash drawer and receipts; keep register area neat, clean and stocked with necessary supplies; and documents discrepancies).
• Perform custodial duties. (e.g., sweep sales area, clean shelves, pick up trash, etc.).
• Stock merchandise and ensure merchandise is displayed in a clean and orderly manner.
• Assist with resolving operational deficiencies in areas needing attention; ensuring price marks on each item in inventory.
• Promote brands/products to increase sales.
• Sell lottery or tobacco products while verifying the age of the customer.
• Assist customers in locating items.
• Perform duties in accordance and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Assist with training new gift shop clerks.
• Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions (e.g., learn guests’ names and preferences; connect with them individually and professionally; smile; make eye contact and verbally greet guests from arrival to the property through departure; and provide friendly and fast service to guests).

• Operate Point of Sale system/cash register
• Proficient in basic computer skills
• Must possess basic mathematical skill (able to add, subtract, multiply and divide)

• High School Diploma or GED certificate preferred.
• Must have relevant work experience.
• Some experience in retail environment and cash handling preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid license through the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC).
