Overview
The City of Hemet is an equal opportunity employer. The City of Hemet is accepting applications for Police Reserve Officer. The Police Reserve Officer position is unpaid.
DefinitionUnder supervision, patrols with a regular police officer in an assigned area in the City. Receives special assignments in related police work. Must attend scheduled training meetings once a month; required to work a minimum of 20 hours per month; and must attend and pass quarterly firearms qualification.
Examples of DutiesAbility to read, understand, and apply laws, regulations, policies, rules and procedures; think clearly and act effectively in emergency situations; make clear and concise radio transmissions; observe and recall names, faces and details of incidents; write clear, concise, and accurate reports; understand and follow verbal and written directions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Minimum QualificationsEducation and/or Experience
Must have successfully completed a POST-approved Basic Police Recruit or Level I Reserve Academy. High School graduate or equivalent (GED).
Special Requirements
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver's license prior to appointment, and a satisfactory driving record. Candidates must be 21 years of age by date of appointment and have U.S. Citizen or permanent resident alien status; and must not possess any felony convictions. Candidates must meet standards of physical stature endurance, and agility established by the City.
Vision correctable to 20/20 in one eye, 20/30 in other eye, uncorrected not greater than 20/100; normal color vision; and normal hearing.
All Police Reserve Officers will be subject to a livescan submitted to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and a full police background investigation for clearance.
Physical RequirementsThis position requires the ability to perform the essential functions associated with a law enforcement officer; perform tasks requiring a full range of body motion (e.g., lift, bend, reach, climb, walk, run, jump); visually distinguish red, amber, and green as part of normal color vision; hear horns, warning devices, radio transmissions, and frequency changes in the normal audio range; work in adverse weather conditions.
