Position Overview
We are looking for a registered dental nurse with an additional post qualification in OH/IV or Radiography. We are currently seeking a maternity cover band 5 dental nurse to join our team. Our service is expanding with multiple job opportunities in the near future. You will be required to use your post qualification to benefit the needs of our service users.
Key Responsibilities- Support the dental team to ensure service users' needs are met through high quality dental care, including patient‑centred care for patients with additional needs.
- Assist the dentist during routine clinical appointments and nurse‑led clinics, maintaining high standards of clinical work.
- Carry out nurse‑led clinics using your post qualification in OH/IV or Radiography, and assist during IV clinics; see a minimum number of patients within the clinic to maintain band 5 status.
- Assist the dental surgeon in the provision of a complete range of NHS dental care, including treatment under inhalation sedation, general anaesthesia or IV sedation where appropriate.
- Accurately record treatment using the R4 dental electronic system, charting from the dentist’s instructions at the time of treatment.
- Participate in the annual individual performance review process.
- Carry out other appropriate duties commensurate with the post (e.g., school visits, home visits and epidemiology).
- Cover staff sickness, annual leave or study leave at any of the Special Care Dental Service sites throughout Hertfordshire.
- Sit or stand in restricted positions and respond to unexpected changes of treatment plans, which may involve movement of bulky heavy equipment such as hoists.
- Manage and run nurse‑led clinics using your post qualification in OH/IV or Radiography to support and maintain patients’ needs.
