We are seeking a driven, commercially minded Transport Operations Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume logistics environment and is passionate about leading teams, improving performance, and delivering exceptional service.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal leadership role where you will take ownership of operational transport performance, team leadership, compliance, and continuous improvement within a complex, multi-temperature distribution environment.

You will play a critical role in shaping the culture, efficiency, and success of a growing transport function.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of daily transport operations through your Transport Team Managers

• Own overall productivity, ensuring operational activities are efficient, cost-effective, and properly resourced

• Drive performance improvements aligned with customer KPIs and service expectations

• Ensure full vehicle legal compliance and adherence to regulatory standards

• Motivate, coach, and develop Transport Team Managers to build high-performing teams

• Analyse customer feedback and operational data to identify innovation and improvement opportunities

• Champion a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence

• Manage departmental budgets and deliver against financial targets

• Ensure full compliance across safety, health, environmental, and quality standards

About You

We are looking for an operational leader who combines strong transport expertise with inspiring people leadership and commercial awareness.

You will bring:

• Proven hands-on experience within a large, complex transport operation

• Ideally, background in temperature-controlled distribution or FMCG logistics

• CPC Licence (essential)

• Strong transport management systems knowledge

• Analytical mindset with confidence in reporting, metrics, and performance data

• Excellent customer and stakeholder management skills

• Strong commercial awareness and decision-making capability

• A modern, engaging leadership style that promotes teamwork and accountability

• Flexibility and resilience to operate effectively within a 24/7 logistics environment
