Payroll Officer – Hemel Hempstead

Location:

Hemel Hempstead – fully office based

Salary: £35,000

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

A well-established and growing business in Hemel Hempstead is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer. This is a key role within a supportive team, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

You will take responsibility for processing weekly payroll, including CIS and Umbrella payments, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with UK legislation. Duties include managing starters and leavers, statutory payments, holiday pay, HMRC submissions, reconciling PAYE and Apprenticeship Levy liabilities, resolving pay queries, and producing payroll reports for Finance.

• Required: Proven experience with PAYE and CIS payroll
• Required: Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation
• Required: Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs essential)
• Required: Ability to calculate tax, NI and pension contributions manually
• Required: Understanding of Auto Enrolment
• Required: Highly accurate with strong attention to detail
• Required: Confident managing queries and working to strict deadlines
• Desirable: Experience with Select Pay, Dimensions, Umbrella payroll and knowledge of the Construction Industry Working Rule Agreement
