Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire (Hybrid - 2 days in office)
£85,000 - £90,000 + Great Bonus + Benefits
Our client, a fast-scaling, founder-led consumer brand with a strong international retail and e-commerce footprint, is looking for a Financial Controller / Head of Finance to build a finance function properly, from the ground up.
Following sustained high growth and recent investment, the business is entering its next phase of expansion - and now needs a technically strong, commercially astute finance professional to create structure, rigour and insight.
You will work directly with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, acting as the architect of a best-in-class finance function fit for scale.
This role is ideally suited to a qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA professional with 3-5 years' post-qualified experience who has either:
Built or significantly upgraded a finance function in a growing SME
Implemented new controls, reporting frameworks, or finance systems
Transitioned a business from outsourced finance to in-house
Professionalised reporting and cash management during rapid growth
You will combine strong technical control with commercial insight, helping leadership make better, faster decisions.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
Owning financial control, governance and reporting processes
Delivering high-quality monthly management accounts, forecasting and cashflow visibility
Improving working capital and margin reporting
Overseeing inventory and stock accounting across multiple 3PL partners
Supporting ERP optimisation and finance system integration
Acting as a commercial partner to leadership in a high-growth environment
This is a hands-on role with real influence - not a reporting-only position.
You will be:
ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
3-5 years' PQE
Experienced within a fast-growing SME, founder-led or entrepreneurial environment
Confident implementing process, controls and scalable reporting frameworks
Strong in inventory / stock accounting (retail or e-commerce experience highly desirable)
Comfortable operating with ambiguity and building structure where it doesn't yet exist
Most importantly, you will enjoy building - not just maintaining.
