We are seeking a dedicated Maths Tutor to deliver high-quality and engaging learning to small groups of prison-based learners at HMP The Mount. This is a rewarding role where you will not only support learners to achieve qualifications, but also help them develop essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours that support their long-term goals and future employability. You will create and deliver structured learning plans, provide tailored advice and guidance, and ensure that all teaching meets high standards of quality, inclusivity, and learner engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging and inclusive Maths sessions tailored to the needs of learners.
- Support learners in developing numeracy, problem-solving, and employability-related skills.
- Design and implement individual learning plans (ILPs) to track and support progress.
- Provide regular advice, feedback, and guidance to help learners achieve their full potential.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities.
- Ensure all teaching meets quality assurance standards and inspection requirements.
- Support learners in working towards and achieving accredited qualifications.
- Contribute to the wider education team and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in Maths and English.
- Strong subject knowledge and expertise within Maths.
- Experience delivering vocational or classroom-based training.
- Ability to apply a variety of engaging teaching methods to suit learner needs.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Recognised teaching or assessing qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET, Cert Ed, DTLLS) - or willingness to work towards this.
- Experience of working with diverse groups of learners, including those with additional learning needs.
